Reflection of the Human resource project
Reflection of the Human resource project
The work of creating a DEI action plan for Gilead Sciences through this Portfolio Project significantly improved my knowledge about Human Resources Management in organizational settings. This project fulfills critical thinking. It also supports Institutional Outcomes for social responsibility and global citizenship development. (Wang, 2019). The analysis of Gilead demographics combined with DEI gap assessment led me to develop skills. This will transform theoretical HR concepts like inclusive leadership into practical organizations. To fulfill this project, I needed to analyze complicated statistical information while confronting moral challenges then pushed forward changes in organization structures that signify high-level human resources management capabilities.
The experience deepened my understanding of how HR functions as an influential organizational force that reaches success through strategic leadership. Business organizations need to recognize DEI as something greater than regulatory needs because it creates tangible business value and enhanced brand image along with increased innovation and employee engagement. By forming an HBCU partnership my goal was to attract STEM talent from various backgrounds which demonstrates how HR services connect business demands to social equity issues. The implementation of intersectional Employee Resource Groups demonstrated to organizations why they need to handle multiple individual aspects (such as race, gender, and disability). The combination of organizational aims and ethical responsibilities to support minority communities aligns with the Institutional Outcome for social justice promotion in which HR professionals work.
The Importance to My Future Career
Modern workplace environments demonstrate the vital importance of DEI expertise for which this project provided essential hands-on experience to me as a future leader in the HR field. Reputable employers currently select HR professionals who demonstrate operational abilities in designing fair programs alongside skill in hiring/promotion bias reduction and the development of workplace belonging structures. My firsthand experience of developing a DEI roadmap at Gilead came during my work with a global company.
1. An evaluation of demographical information combined with employee retention data helps identify particular forms of inequality within the company.
2. Strategic Communication: Presenting recommendations to leadership in a compelling, evidence-based manner.
3. Standards of stakeholder balance become essential to implement change management because they enable the advancement of determined DEI targets.
The implementation of competencies serves as an essential tool for HR professionals who determine the satisfaction levels of workers along with organizational success. Complete knowledge of pay equity metrics combined with training program inclusiveness will help me develop preventive measures before I need to tackle existing issues. Empathy emerged as essential for human resource professionals after this task because direct worker experiences relating exclusionary practices confirmed that HR policies should prioritize actual people instead of statistical data.
My leadership approach will create HR programs to remove organizational barriers that enable workplaces where employees achieve complete success. As a result of my experience I obtained key assets to implement my vision through assessment of equality problems and creation of performance evaluation methodologies. The quick evolution of DEI practices in the workplace encouraged me to study regularly about modern HR best practices. Experiencing this role caused my initial understanding of human resources to be proven incorrect because personnel management represents only the basic aspects.
