Overcoming Challenges to Pursue a Nursing Career

The major issue I had to overcome was combining work and study when I decided to go for a nursing program. As a student, life is all about balancing time to meet the various roles and wasn’t going to let that discourage me from doing what I loved.

The biggest challenge that I faced during this journey was completing my working hours while studying. My days were fully occupied with doing work, attending classes, and writing assignments. With the amount of work, it seemed like the day was insufficient for the amount of work to be done. I had some feelings of burnout, of being overwhelmed, of asking myself whether I was able to cope with everything. Nevertheless, I had to go on, and my desire to be a nurse did not allow me to stop; I tried to recall why I had started.

In order to address this challenge, I developed a framework of the daily plan for myself. I adopted regular time for studying, working, and sleeping. It helped me remain disciplined so as not to overwork myself. That is why I turned to family and friends and told them about my problems. This encouragement kept me going as I never felt like giving up. So, I began normal practices, probably going for walks and taking short breaks to help me free my mind.

If I could have done anything differently, I would be consulting people with similar experiences regarding the matter. Perhaps if I had someone to turn to and guide me through it all, it would have been somewhat easier. All the same, I want to commend myself for the way I dealt with it, but I may not be keen on altering much of it. (Chan & Hu 2023).

In general, as for lessons, what I can state after this experience is the following: It is essential to plan, to know how to ask for help, and to look after oneself. I will be able to use these lessons in the future as I proceed with my nursing education. I am sure that acquired knowledge will help me to become a better student and, in the future, a kind and responsible nurse.
