Introduction of Growth Mindset in Brainology

Dr. Dweck explains in Brainology that, in a growth mindset, failure can be challenging. It may happen, but it doesn’t rule you out. We must recognize it, deal with it and learn from it" (Dweck, 2008, p. 47). It suggests we should be strong andthat intelligence grows stronger when we try, instead of believing it comes naturally to us. Temple Grandin herself explains in Thinking in Pictures how her autism that was thought to limit her, actually helped her to succeed. According to her, being able to see and understand pictures in her mind was very helpful with animals. Something that felt like a disadvantage turned out to be my most important talent" (Grandin, 2006, p. 32). Like Dweck suggests, Grandin responded to differences in her brain by changing how she saw things and turning what seemed like problems into benefits for her work. They indicate that becoming successful depends on being persistent, flexible and ready to make challenges into chances.
